As part of my ongoing Photographing Bradford project and following my previous post on focusing on the Hidden Histories brief for Impressions’ Picturing Bradford call out, I’ve been working on a number of images including the three below to fit this brief. I’ll be submitting the three images below along with a couple previously shown on the blog.
This post stands alone amid various shrubbery and fencing, and backs onto a car park, and further, the lawcourts and Victoria Hotel. I’m not sure how the post relates to any of these locations however, and begs the question what was it originally part of?
Smashed and boarded up windows led me to consider photographing the iconic former Telegraph & Argus building, a good sky in this version of the image cemented it! I may photograph the building from the other side to see which version I prefer, but am happy with this image in itself.
This passageway leads up to the lawcourts. On this day I was struck by the whiteness of the trees flanking it. It’s set back from the road, and you don’t see many people using it, which is a shame as it’s quite a characterful location.
This fourth image is a work in progress. I was struck by the varying architectures between the older mill-type buildings, sandwiched between the newer flats and even newer police station. I intend to create a flattened perpective image that links these buildings together.
