Photographing Bradford: The NCP
This post is part of my ongoing Photographing Bradford series, to catch up on the rest of the series, click here!
One of my earliest memories of Bradford is driving into town and parking on the top floor of this car park. Driving up the entry ramp and up through the car park is a very clear memory for me, especially because it’s probably thirty years ago!
To give you an idea of what it was like, aspects that stuck in my memory are;
the harsh, orange Tungsten lighting throughout,
the dark, damp corridors between each floor,
no drainage so plenty of puddles dotted around.
The car park is currently in the process of being demolished, part of an initiative to pedestrianise parts of the city centre. I intend to photograph the demolition of the car park as it happens, and will report back in another newsletter, once the work has finished.
How will the removal of this iconic building affect the skyline of Bradford and the area directly surrounding it?
Newsletters focusing on my process will soon be available for Paid Subscribers only!
