Photographing Bradford: The Bradford Hotel #1
Here’s the first post for a new series where I’ll be developing and analysing my decisions in shooting for a new series focusing on features of Bradford city centre.

First up are my initial shots of the Bradford Hotel.
I was drawn to take this image due to the sunshining brightly on the face of the hotel. There’s also the clear sky with no clouds, the camera picking up a great looking gradiant in the blue.
I prefer the angle of the below image but would need to remove the lampost top left and the grate bottom left. I would also want to ensure the path and road in the foreground would be out of focus.
I could get a little tighter with the composition getting just the hotel in without the multistory car park’s roof with the graffiti on encroaching into the shot, nor too much of the town hall.
The Bradford Interchange sign is quite offputting as it draws the eye so much, but I did find it interesting that you can find the word Bradford three times in the image.
I could also photograph this in differing weather conditions to see how this affacts the feel of the image.
In my next attempts to perfect this image, I’ll therefore focus on;
Photographing in different weather conditions ( Shouldn’t be hard at the moment!),
Soft focus on the foreground path and road,
Tighter composition to ensure more focus and lean into a graphical feel,
Ways of dealing with the metro sign.
