My Initial Thoughts on Submitting for Werkhaus Zine
Workhorse Collective have put out a call to submit work for their latest publication, I intend to submit some images from Exposed as I feel this project fits in with their brief of Now and Again.
Workhorse Collective have put out a call to submit work for their latest publication, I intend to submit some images from Exposed as I feel this project fits in with their brief of Now and Again. See below for the section from the project brief discussing the theme, and my thoughts on how Exposed relates to it.
So when is now? Is it now? Or…. now? It slips from our grasp, even as we reach for it. Is this now? And again?
Photos are taken in the present, but when you view them, show them to others, they are already a past reflection…
We invite you to take inspiration from our theme, to interpret it in your own style. To make meaning in different ways.
Now. What does it mean to live now? How does this ‘now’ compare to previous ones? Is anything eternal, or is everything ephemeral? Can we ever really capture now?
Eternal, ephemeral are great words to focus on for Exposed, the project highlighting the impermanence of supposedly permanent structures.
And again. You might think about how the past echoes into the present, or what will connect this moment to the future. We experience and live in a moment. We may want to relive or replicate that moment. Now… again. Can we hope to repeat it? Or can we never step twice into the same river?
Past echoing into the present, buildings and structures falling into disrepair, showing signs of adaptation. How will these structures look in another ten, twenty years? Will they still exist? Change? Resist the elements and remain as they are today?
For the brief, I must submit up to six images along with a fifty word statement introducing the work. After I submit the brief, I’ll post up the statement along with the chosen photos. Below are some I’m considering entering.
